Meet Your Wordsmiths
Don’t worry, they don’t bite! … much.
Jam (she/they) is a media & comms specialist with nearly ten years of experience encompassing news & publishing, digital marketing, and press relations.
With tertiary educational backgrounds in Biotechnology and Psychology, Jam has a predilection towards all things science and the social sciences, on top of a keen interest in tech and gaming. Their interests/beats include tech & startups, science/medicine, health & mental health, and social and current issues.
After her stint in Business Development at Malaysiakini, Jam single-handedly built and set up a media hub — now called the Corporate Communications Department — at the Selangor Information Technology & E-Commerce Council.
At SITEC (now SIDEC), Jam managed the media hub, incorporating internal & external communications, social media management, digital marketing, press relations, and editorial.
Aside from engaging in research, she conceptualised, wrote, edited and digitally marketed content for the Selangor State Government, as well as SITEC’s events, conferences, reports, white papers, and more.
Jam freelanced for a while after leaving SIDEC, and found herself as the tech editor of regional tech and business content portal, Tech Wire Asia, in mid-2021. Under Jam’s strategic vision and management of content and its writers, the site achieved M-o-M organic readership growth and hit its peak organic readership of 140% on her fifth month.
Jam has, however, resigned from Tech Wire Asia and its parent company, Hybrid, in 2022, and is currently open to freelancing opportunities.

Xavier Kong is a writer with over 5 years of experience, with half coming from business journalism at Kinibiz, covering startups, enterprises, and fintech. He then moved on to be a writer with a state government-linked corporation, where he did copywriting and speechwriting, as well as articles and coverage of events.
He now works with a local life services company, dealing primarily in food delivery, where he serves as a general writer for copy, internal documents, and outgoing communications, while helping pioneer the company’s Youtube content.
His interests include tech and startups, fintech, gaming, food, mental health, and boardgames, all of which he is able to discuss with proficiency. Having tasted the thrill of writing since his school years, when he contributed to school magazines before starting a tertiary education in Psychology, he (quite literally) fell into this career on the creative side of things.
